NEWS AND NOTES

Will you teach Sunday School?
That sentence kind of stops you in your tracks, doesn’t it? Do the reasons not to teach leap into your mind? I’m too busy. I’m too tired. I don’t bring my children to Sunday School.  I’m a grandparent – I’ve already done my part, let somebody younger take their turn. Family time is more important. I buy groceries during the Sunday School hour. We eat breakfast then. I don’t know enough about God to teach. Your reason here: ________________________________.

Do you wonder why anybody would teach Sunday School? Ever? The very best teachers have learned the secrets:

  1. To teach is to learn twice. If you want to grow spiritually commit yourself to teaching. As you prepare your lessons and share God’s word with your students you will be blessed.
  2. You need this experience. Nobody is promising that the task is an easy one. Most worthwhile things aren’t. Teaching the faith is a challenge that will broaden your horizons and strengthen you in ways you can’t even begin to imagine.
  3. Answering God’s call to teach is about you and the faith journey God calls you to take. Sure the kids need you. This faith journey is one you’ll experience with your class throughout the year. And they will be blessed by your teaching. But you’ll be a new person at the end of your journey.

Will you teach Sunday School?....think about it!

Voters’ Meeting
July 11 is the scheduled date for the next quarterly Voters’ Meeting.  The meeting will be held following the 10:30 worship service.  The financial report, along with reports from church boards will be presented.

XYF Fireworks Stand
Our high school youth fireworks stand (at Russ’s Market) opens June 27.  Proceeds from this fund-raiser will be used for the 2011 District Youth Gathering.  Workers are needed and can call the church office to volunteer.  This is the youth’s only BIG fundraising event this year.  Thrivent Financial will provide $200.

Blood Pressure Check-up
Don’t forget to stop by the table in the forum on Sunday, July 11, between 9-10:15 am to get your free blood pressure check-up.  This quarterly service is provided by Faith’s Wellness team.

Lost and Found
Are you missing a cake pan, a lid, a glove, or other such item?  Please check in the kitchen and the “Lost and Found” box, located under the coat rack by the west entrance, for items you might be missing.  Items not picked up by July 25 will be given away.

Co-ed Youth Softball Games
Everyone is invited to come out to Smith Softball Complex and support the XYF team.  Game days in July are on the 11th and the 18th – both at 8:00pm.  Tournament times TBA.

Free devotional materials are available on the wooden table in the
south-east hallway, next to the church library (Room 101).

Faith’s Billboard

Faith has a wonderful billboard located on 2nd and Kerr. That billboard is paid for through monthly sponsorship by our members. If you would like to sponsor this outreach project ($75 for a month) please call the church office.

Hospital Note
If you or a loved one find yourself needing to be hospitalized please try to let the church staff know. Each of you are an important part of our church family and we don’t want you to be lost amongst all the “red tape”. Please do not assume the hospital will let us know. Due to the new privacy laws we OFTEN do not know if church members are in the hospital unless you or a family member contact us. HELP US TO HELP YOU!

Can't be with us?
If you aren't able to worship with us on Sunday mornings you can call the church office, 462-5044, and we would be happy to mail you a printed order of worship, either on a regular or a one-time basis.
